Get Involved

UF Involvement

Research shows students who get involved with the University feel connected and enjoy their time here. Just because you’re an off-campus student doesn’t mean you can’t get involved. Being a student at the University of Florida provides you access to so many opportunities and resources, making the most of your time at UF.

Student Engagement

Student Engagement houses and supervises more than 1,000 campus student organizations. To find organizations that interest you, go to the 3rd floor of the Reitz Union and visit the Student Engagement website or GatorConnect for more information. Student Engagement also houses the Campus Engagement office, Community & Belonging office, Sorority & Fraternity Life, and Student Legal Services.

Brown Center for Leadership and Service

The Brown Center for Leadership and Service (BCLS) provides structure and resources to prepare students to become productive citizens and assume leadership and service roles. The Brown Center fosters lifelong service and civic participation by engaging the University with its greater community in action, change, and learning. Organizations include Florida Alternative Breaks (FAB) and Lead UF. Visit the BCLS website for more information.

University Athletic Association

A connection with athletics often builds school spirit, and many students claim they don’t know when athletic events are going on?  Visit UF's Florida Gators website for everything you need to know about your favorite Gator teams, times of events, tickets, and much more.  Go GATORS!

Gator Nights

Enjoy free movies, activities, giveaways, and midnight breakfast on Friday nights. Visit the Gator Nights website for more information.

Gainesville Community Involvement

There are multiple ways to get involved in the City of Gainesville. The Visit Gainesville website has great resources and they even have a weekly What's Good e-newsletter that you can subscribe to for upcoming events. It goes out weekly on Thursdays and is a great resource to get involved.

If you are interested in getting involved with the local city government, City of Gainesville and Alachua County advisory boards and committees have specific student and citizen seats.  To learn about the variety of opportunities, requirements, and application process, please visit the City of Gainesville and Alachua County websites to learn more and to apply.

Another great way to get involved locally is by doing service and volunteering your time to local agencies. To learn more visit the UF Brown Center for Leadership and Service (BCLS) at leadershipandservice.ufl.edu.
