Paynes Prairie Preserve is a beautiful Florida State Park located south of Gainesville. They have a wide array of trails to choose from and it is a great place to see local wildlife including birds, wild horses, and bison. We are very lucky to live in a city that features multiple state, city, and county parks. I purchase a Florida State Parks season pass every year, this helps reduce the cost for me and motivates me to get out and explore.

Located in Celebration Pointe, Hana Sushi is one of my favorite spots for fresh sushi and flavorful hibachi, all just minutes from UF! My go-to order is the steak hibachi—perfectly cooked and packed with flavor—but I also love the Passion Roll for a delicious mix of sweet and savory. The menu has a great variety of sushi rolls, sashimi, and hibachi entrees, so there’s always something new to try. Whether you're looking for a casual lunch, a fun dinner with friends, or just a place to satisfy your sushi cravings, Hana Sushi is always a great choice! 🍣🔥

Located just a short drive south of Gainesville, the town of Micanopy is a beautiful slice of Old Florida just minutes from UF! Micanopy’s historic downtown district features a variety of amazing shops and restaurants, with my favorites including the Shady Oak Gallery, Coffee n’ Cream, and JemsOriginals. Downtown Micanopy also hosts several festivals throughout the year, including the Micanopy Fall Festival coming up this year on November 1st and 2nd! If you are looking for a great way to spend a weekend afternoon, look no further than Downtown Micanopy!
